Shared Management

GIFSA will collaboratively negotiate a shared management agreement between GIFSA and a person with a disability and their family; based on the degree of control and self-direction the person and their family want over their funding and support services. The agreement will document how the service management roles and responsibilities are split between all parties. A person with a disability and their family can decide which service responsibilities they would like to manage and self-direct. A family can choose from a variety of responsibilities according to their personal preference and capacity. This can include;

  • Staff Selection & Recruitment
  • Staff Training
  • Staff Supervision
  • Payroll & Taxation

When a person with a disability and their family choose to manage their own staff, the family will have access to a nominated Coordinator and HR Manager for ongoing advice.
