On the election of the new State Government, GIFSA extended an invitation to the new Minister for Disability Services, the Hon. Stephen Dawson, to visit and meet the Board and staff.
Although it was a short day trip, it gave GIFSA the opportunity to provide the Minister with a briefing on GIFSA and to describe the many challenges and opportunities in delivering quality support services throughout the vast 771,000km2 Goldfields-Esperance region of WA.
Minister Dawson is not new to the disability sector, previously holding the Shadow Disability portfolio whilst in opposition. And he is no stranger to the region given he continues to hold an upper seat for the Mining and Pastoral Region.
We wish the Minister the very best as he navigates the transition of WA into the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).Back to Articles
