Chad Perris Honoured at the AIS

GIFSA has been following the fortunes of Chad Perris, son of Ken Perris who is the Goldfields Regional Executive Director of the Department of Education.

Chad is a vision impaired  athlete, born with albanism.  Albanism is associated with a number of vision defects, such as photophobia, nystagmus, and amblyopia. Lack of skin pigmentation makes for more susceptibility to sunburn and skin cancers.

He specialises in the 100m and 200m's. He has won one silver and two bronze medals at the World Para Athletics Championships and won a bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Paralympics.

In this photo Chad's items are on display in the main foyer of the Austarlian Institiute of Sport's (AIS) Visitors Centre.

Chad’s next major event is the World Paralympic Athletics Championships in Dubai in November this year.
