GIFSA in the media

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a new way of providing support for people living with disability and takes a whole-of-life approach. It is designed to provide the right support according to each person’s needs and goals.

The NDIS will  replace the existing ‘block’ funding system where funding goes directly  to disability service organisation. Instead, eligible people are assessed and allocated individualised funding. The idea is that everyone’s support needs are different and that each person can exercise choice and control over what services and supports they receive.

WA is currently trialling the NDIS is certain locations and we are expecting to see the full roll out of the NDIS from 01 July 2017.
